This is a transcription of Inklusibo’s solidarity message to the LGBTQI sector. This was delivered last June 15, 2024 at Masukal Bistro by Hans Bautista, executive director of Inklusibo
“Pride is a protest and a commemoration in honor of those who offered their lives to the struggle of the LGBTQI sector. We honor our trans siblings such as Jennifer Laude, Estee Saway, and Jessa Remiendo who were killed because of their identity. We honor our LGBTQI siblings who were denied universal access to healthcare and legal protection against any form of discrimination.
We attribute our society’s openness to the people who struggled before us, and while we have made significant progress, attacks and discrimination persist. Thus, we continue to resist and call on the government to provide comprehensive legal protection to the LGBTQI—one that does not just ensure marriage equality but one that breaks all barriers that hinder the LGBTQI sector from attaining a just, equal, and decent way of living.
The LGBTQI today must attain its right to livable wages, genuine job security, decent and non-discriminatory settlements, and accessible social services, not charter change, proxy wars initiated by imperialists, and the perpetuation of a system that only favors the ruling class. Inklusibo assures that it is a strong ally of the LGBTQI in fighting for a just and feminist future where no one is discriminated against nor left behind.”
